Enniskillen’s much-loved picturehouses will be remembered and celebrated during a special free event hosted at the site of the former Regal Cinema.
Taking place on Thursday, April 27 from 2pm to 4pm at 1 Regal Pass, Enniskillen (current the UUP constituency offices), ‘Remembering Enniskillen’s Picturehouse Past’ will offer members of the public the chance to step inside the wonderfully intact former Regal Cinema, complete with its 1930s architectural details and murals.
Speakers will include local historians Frankie Roofe and Catherine Scott, and Rosie Hickey, Heritage Officer of the Strand Arts Centre Belfast (Northern Ireland’s last operating 1930s picturehouse).
Short screenings will take place on the afternoon, including ‘Remember the Ritz’ by local filmmaker Conor Gallagher.
The event has been organised by the Strand Arts Centre as part of its Strand Stories project which has been supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It is also in conjunction with Fermanagh Film Club. To attendt the great event, RSVP to rosie@strandartscentre.com.
