Brookeborough Primary School celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla with a special event at Colebrooke Estate hosted by Lord and Lady Brookeborough.
Organised by the school's Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA), the Coronation event took place on Friday, May 19 and was attended by staff and pupils of the primary school, along with their friends, family and members of the local community.
The children enjoyed the opportunity to dress up as kings and queens for the occasion, with Lord and Lady Brookeborough judging the best dressed, with prizes presented to the winners in each year group.
The school was also delighted to be joined by Brookeborough Flute Band, who led those in attendance on a musical procession around the beautiful grounds of Colebrooke Estate on the warm spring evening.
Following the procession, there was some food, games, including a tug-of-war, and Ulster Scots dancing.
Talking about the success of the event, the principal of Brookeborough PS, Andy Young, said: "It was great! I've only been principal here at the school for a couple of months, so I was really impressed with how well it's supported by the community."
Although the event was primarily to mark the Coronation, Mr. Young explained that it was also organised to simultaneously raise funds for the school to purchase new interactive whiteboards for the classes.
