Seven local people have been named in the King's Birthday Honours tonight (Friday, June 16).
All of those named have made outstanding contributions to civic life in Northern Ireland, those honoured by King Charles III come from a variety of backgrounds and have been awarded honours for a variety of reasons including services to the community, services to the economy and outstanding voluntary work.
Mr. Peter Sheridan, has been awarded a CBE for services to peacebuilding. Mr. Sheridan is chief executive of Co-operation Ireland.
Mr Sheridan was previously made an OBE for services to community in his previous career as a high-ranking member of the PSNI.
Enniskillen man, Brigadier John Graham has been awarded an OBE for services to the military and to the community in Northern Ireland. Mr. Graham is an active member of the community in Enniskillen and is much respected for the contributions he brings to Fermanagh through his military work and his work with the arts.
Businessman Mr. Derek Keys, the founder of the Dromore-based company Euro Auctions has been awarded an OBE for services to the economy. The well-known auctioneering company has sites all around the world.
A founding member of the charity SWELL - Supported We Live Life, Mrs. Genevieve Irvine from Enniskillen has been awarded a BEM for services to People Affected by Cancer in County Fermanagh.
Founded in 2018, SWELL provides recreational activities which aim to improve the emotional, physiological and physical wellbeing of those in Fermanagh who have had, are living with, or have been newly diagnosed with cancer.
Others recognised include: Mrs. Gail Boyd who has been awarded a BEM for voluntary services to the community in the Clogher Valley.
Another person from the Clogher Valley who was recognised in the King's Birthday Honours was Mrs. Mary Catherine Daly who has been awarded a BEM for services to young people and the community in the Clogher Valley.
Also recognised in the Clogher Valley area is Fivemiletown resident, Mr. Michael Callaghan who has been awarded a BEM for voluntary services to the community in County Tyrone and County Fermanagh.
