What's on in Enniskillen this summer?
It’s the season for outdoor theatre and the Ardhowen has a great programme lined up.
On Thursday, June 29, I K Productions bring their brand of “delightfully daft” family theatre to Fermanagh for the first time with ‘Hercules’.
Taking place at 4pm in the picnic area at Ardhowen, the audience will travel back in time to the land of heroes, monsters and myths and join Hercules as he labours for beauty, truth and love.
Come along on a legendary adventure as Athena guides the hapless hero to success. But with time running out to prove himself a hero, will Hercules ever be able to scale Olympus and find a happy ending?
‘Bad Dad’ is the next outdoor performance, which will take place at multiple venues across Fermanagh. On Friday, June 30 at 4pm it will be at Castle Park Centre, Lisnaskea; on July 1 and 2 at 4pm it will be on Castle Island, Enniskillen, and finally, on Friday, July 7 at 4pm it will be at the Bawnacre, Irvinestown.
Heartbreak Productions return to Fermanagh for the third year running for the warm-hearted tale that follows the highs and lows of a father-son relationship, in this open-air adaptation of David Walliams’ ‘Bad Dad’.
In the production, join Frank and Gilbert as they navigate their way through car chases and convicts in the struggle to escape the clutches of a local crime lord and clear Gilbert’s name in this show, that is suitable for ages seven and upwards.
On Sunday, July 9, at 7pm, the outdoor theatre travels back to Castle Island, but this time with something for Shakespeare lovers, inviting audiences to take part in a unique experiment to discover which play is the best by the Bard?
Help decide by being part of an exciting, new theatre competition, ‘Will of the People’.
Round one will pit Macbeth, Hamlet, and King Lear against each other, as some of the finest actors make their case for why their tragedy should be performed that evening, to win a place in the next round of the competition.
Heartbreak Productions invites audiences to grab a chair/blanket, weather-appropriate gear, and a few nibbles, for a performance with passion, pep, and punch , suitable for nine-plus years. Allow some additional time for the boat crossing for all shows on Castle Island.
Love singing? Love acting? Aged 14 to 18? Then why not join Ulster Youth Opera in the Ardhowen on Thursday, July 6?
Work with professional opera singers, directors and pianists to build vocal, acting and movement skills while learning about the art form.
No music reading ability or singing grades are required – just join in and enjoy the world of opera. There will be two sessions, one at 5pm for ages eight to 13, and one at 7pm for those aged 14 to 18.
