It was lights, camera, action as Roslea Shamrocks GAA, in association with KR Events, launched the OsKaRs fundraiser on Saturday, June 24.
The OsKaRs will see club members and locals try their hand at acting as they make a short film inspired by classic movies and TV shows to raise funds which will go towards reducing debt accumulated through development within Shamrock Park over the last number of years.
At the launch night event, which was hosted by Sean McCaffrey, 97 budding actors found out their movies and TV shows, which include ‘The Snapper’, ‘Father Ted’, ‘Derry Girls’, ‘The Wind that Shakes the Barley’, ‘Calendar Girls’, ‘The Field’ and ‘Forrest Gump’.
Over the next few months, each team will produce a film 10 minutes in length and re-enact some of the most iconic scenes from some well-loved movies and TV shows.
The spectacle will culminate on Saturday, November 11 with a red carpet event at the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan, where ‘A Night at the OsKaRs’ will showcase the movie clips and celebrity judges will decide on the OsKaR award winners.
