There were no big annoucements of investment on the menu when United States Special Envoy to Northern Ireland, Joe Kennedy III made a flying visit to Enniskillen Castle on Thursday morning, there was however, hot scones and cups of coffee as he attended a business breakfast with local politicians, business leaders and interested parties.

Mr. Kennedy says his role is to "tell the story of all Northern Ireland" not just Belfast.

He said: "The most important part of that opportunity is being able to tell American investors, businesses, entrepreneurs to show them the extraordinary place that is Northern Ireland to the extent that there is opportunity and investment that is coming to Northern Ireland, a lot of that is Belfast centric, Belfast has a great story to tell and the rest of Northern Ireland has a great story to tell."

Speaking during the business breakfast where he was joined by Dr.Jayne Brady, Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service, Mr Kennedy said: "My role is to be your advocate, to help promote personal relationships and investment between Northern Ireland and the U.S. and to highlight some of those opportunities to business leaders in the U.S.

"I think one of my biggest challenges is to make sure that business leaders are able to actually see it, feel it, sense it, because if they do, you all do a pretty darn good job of selling it and my job is to find a way to get them out here.

Referencing his boss, President Joe Biden, Mr. Kennedy said: "However I can be of assistance, support and be your advocate cheerleaders that's what the President told me to do and I'm honoured to do it."

Kennedy was an attentive listener to business leaders and took handwritten notes as he listened to business leaders and asked for clarity at points during the breakfast business when he spoke to business leaders such as Kevin Lunney, Mannok; Fiacre O'Donnell, Encirc ; Julie-Ann McCaffrey, Greentown Enviromental and Nick O'Shiel, Omagh Enterprise.

He also heard from local politicians including Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O'Reilly who has marked economic development and prosperity of the district as one of his priorities in his role.

He also heard from DUP MLA Deborah Erskine, one of those who extended the original invitation to visit Fermanagh to Mr Kennedy as well as Fermanagh South Tyrone MP, Michelle Gildernew, Colm Gildernew MLA, and Councillor Barry McElduff.
