Spooky happenings are taking place right across Fermanagh this Hallowe’en as local attractions get into the spirit of the season.
Lappin’s pumpkin patch
Pumpkins are now ready for the picking, and Lappin’s Pumpkin Patch has plenty to choose from. Based at Lappin’s farm on the Sligo Road, Enniskillen, the patch is open until October 31 from 9.30am to 4.30pm daily. Record your memories in the pumpkin barn, then take a tractor ride around the farm to the pumpkin patch where you will be able to pick your own pumpkin. Please note, the pumpkin patch can be muddy in wet weather so wellies are advised.
Freaky fun on the farm
Fermanagh Fun Farm in Lisbellaw has had a freaky makeover and is inviting all to join them for some Hallowe’en fun until October 31. During the Fermanagh Freaky Farm experience, visitors will pick a pumpkin from the patch then take it over to the carving shed where they can let their creativity run wild. After pumpkin carving, visit the creepy carnival area and take part in the ghoulish games, to win some prizes.
Join the local witch at her creepy cinema, to watch her favourite spooky programme and play some Hallowe’en games. Then jump on board the eerie train and dare to travel with the haunted character to meet some of his freaky friends along the way.
Pesky pumpkins
At Enniskillen Castle this Hallowe’en, visitors are to keep an eye out for the pesky pumpkins that are lurking in the galleries. Find the pumpkins to solve the hidden clue and claim a prize. The Pesky Pumpkin Trail will run from October 27 to November 4.
Florence Court
Over at Florence Court, the Harvest Festival of Colour will bring the National Trust estate to life from October 28 to 29 from 11am to 5pm each day.
The house will be spectacularly decorated to celebrate this fruitful time of year. Then follow the Harvest trail with lots of activities for children to enjoy along the way. Vote for your favourite scarecrow in the annual scarecrow competition and make sure to stop by the children’s craft station.
Culinary delight
There is a new foodie aspect for 2023 in association with Tully Mill Restaurant. Get ready to embark on a tantalizing culinary journey as you savour a diverse range of delicious local cuisines in the Food Village before stopping by the Artisan Village for your take home treats. From farm-fresh produce to delectable artisanal creations, there’s something to satisfy every palate. Don’t miss the chance to glean some top culinary tips from local baking sensations with cooking demonstrations running throughout the weekend.
Monstrous music and storytelling
Enjoy music both days in the courtyard with Fermanagh Concert Band on Saturday, October 28 and Blue Orchard on Sunday, October 29.
On Saturday, October 28 at 8pm, join Dalriada Legends storytellers as they go beyond the veil and explore the strange, the mysterious and the outright spooky in an evening of storytelling, music and song at the Ardhowen Theatre in Enniskillen. With Hallowe’en – or Samhain – just around the corner, you can expect tales of dark happenings, ghostly sightings and visits from the mysterious Sidhe.
Dalriada Legends are a group of professional storytellers based in Co. Antrim who “keep the stories alive” with their engaging and entertaining evenings of folklore, myths and legends. The ‘Beyond The Veil: A Dark Night of Stories & Songs’ event is suitable for age 14 years plus.
Bewitching Belleek
Belleek Pottery is turning a little bit spooky this Hallowe’en with the help of the Belleek Pottery’s Wini Witchy Witch. Come along and join in one of the spooktacular tours, make sure you come in fancy dress and meet Wini Witchy Witch whilst on tour. She is a little mischievous and may get up to some tricks but to make it a little bit more fun she may need some help! The Hallowe’en Wini Witchy Witch tour includes a child friendly pottery tour, activities during the tour, colouring in and a sweet spooky treat in the Tea Room. Tours are offered on Tuesday, October 31 at 11.30am, 12noon, 1.30pm and 2pm. Pre-booking is essential.
Experience Enniskillen
Experience Enniskillen is thrilled to host their highly anticipated Halloween event, on October 31 from 4pm to 7pm in Enniskillen town centre. This family-friendly extravaganza promises an evening filled with thrilling activities and entertainment for all ages.
The event will kick off with a captivating fun parade, featuring a ghost train, lively music and dance, with spooky guests following, creating an enchanting atmosphere for attendees. The excitement will continue with appearances by beloved characters from Party Bees and Superheroes, adding an extra touch of magic to the evening.
Experience Enniskillen has gone above and beyond to ensure that this event caters for everyone. There will be free face painting and Hallowe’en treats, and witness an exhilarating Thriller flash dance performance.
Sparkling displays at Share Centre
Share Discovery Village’s booked-out Big Howl Event is on Saturday, October 28 running from 5pm to 9pm. At 8.30pm, all are welcome to come along and enjoy a colourful spectacle light up the night skies as Share hosts a Hallowe’en Fireworks display. This is a free, non-ticketed event. As a registered charity, Share will be accepting donations on the night of the event. Please note that this display is weather dependent. Visitors are advised to dress up warm with waterproofs.
The popular Wicked Witch Trail at the Marble Arch Caves is booked out but there are still tickets available for Martel’s Candlelight Tour Hallowe’en, an adult only event on Tuesday, October 31 at 5pm.
