Tributes have been paid to well-known Fermanagh man and bowling enthusiast Eric Hamilton following his death.
Mr. Hamilton passed away peacefully on Tuesday (December 5) at his home in Enniskillen.
Arranged by WT Morrison Funeral Directors, Mr. Hamilton’s funeral will take place today (Thursday, December 7), leaving from his home for the service in Lisbellaw Presbyterian Church at 1pm, followed by burial in Cross Cemetery Enniskillen.
Bowling
Mr. Hamilton had a renowned passion for bowling and he played throughout Fermanagh and beyond over the years.
He was Bowling Co-ordinator at The Castlecourt Hotel in Westport for 15 years, and Resident Bowls Host at the Galway Bay Hotel before retiring from the posts in 2019.
He also had a keen interest in football, and had held the position of Club Secretary for Enniskillen Rangers Football Club in the 1960s.
Highly-regarded
Paying tribute to the highly-regarded late Mr. Hamilton, a spokesperson for the Club said: “Eric was a most efficient Club Secretary for Rangers for an number of years in the early Sixties.
“It is a measure of Eric’s meticulous approach to administration and statistics that his records from that time still exist to provide a full picture of a very successful period in the club’s history.
“We offer sincere condolences to Vera and the family circle.”
Beloved husband of Vera, dearly loved father of Pamela, Avril, Jennifer and the late Nial, father-in-law of Mark, Richard, Leo and Ruth, and a much-loved grandfather, Mr. Hamilton is lovingly remembered by his family. and all the family circle.
