A number of local citizens have been named in the New Year's Honours list published tonight, as well as a number of faces familiar to Fermanagh residents – including Neil Guckian, the Chief Executive of the Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust).
The annual list recognises the achievements and service of people across the UK, from all walks of life, and has once again featured people from Fermanagh and the surrounding areas as well as a number of people with strong ties to the area.
Those honoured by King Charles III include the following.
Mr. Neil Francis Guckian, Chief Executive of the Western Trust, has been awarded an OBE.
Mr. Guckian has been recognised for Services to Health and Social Care, and to the community in Northern Ireland.
Mr. Terence Anthony Donnelly, Executive Chair, Donnelly Motor Group and Director, Taxi and Bus Conversions Ltd., has been awarded an OBE for Services to the Motor Industry in Northern Ireland.
The Donnelly Motor Group operate the popular Donnelly’s Motorstore on the Irvinestown Road.
Mr. Leslie John Raymond Irvine has been awarded a MBE for Services to Association Football.
Mr. Irvine was the International Referee Assessor for the Irish Football Association, and had a distinguished career as a referee.
A further sporting achievement in the area has been recognised with Mr. David Wheeler, Chair of Lisnaskea Rovers Football Club, being awarded a BEM for Services to Association Football in County Fermanagh.
Also receiving recognition from King Charles III is Mrs. Joy Henritta Mary Coalter, who has been awarded a BEM for Services to Education.
Mrs. Coalter had previously served as the Building and Cleaning Supervisor for Brookeborough Primary School.
Another person with a connection to the Brookeborough area who has been awarded a BEM is The Venerable Thomas Roderic West, a Church of Ireland minister.
Ven. West has been recognised for Services to the Community in County Down.
