THE all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 6 is an impressive vehicle both inside and out.
The sleek machine is part of the brand's call-electric line-up, which combines all the versatility of electric with a stunning exterior design.
First impressions were good. As a fan of a sporty set of alloys, the IONIQ 6 - from Monaghan Bros, Lisnaskea - immediately ticked this box.
Body-wise, the IONIQ 6 features a sloping streamlined design and an 800-volt battery system, complete with ultra-fast charging, delivers a driving range of up to 338 miles.
Surely there will be no 'range anxiety' with the IONIQ 6!
The attention to style continued upon hopping inside.
The levered door handles took a bit of getting used to, but the interior has an executive feel.
The automatic gearbox is easily controlled from a switch beside the steering wheel, and the cockpit features all the bells and whistles that motorists have come to expect.
Size-wise, this motor is more akin to a hatchback; while it is long, at 4.85m, it has an overall width of 1.88m.
Conservative use of space ensures a pleasurable environment for driver, along with ample boot space.
At the flick of a switch, I was ready to take off. The test drive first took me to the Killyhevlin Hotel, and I have to say the sleek appearance came into its own when set in the backdrop of Lough Erne.
Onwards then to Tamlaght and heading to Lisbellaw, where the IONIQ 6 proved lively and full of thrust.
The handling on some narrow backroads was responsive, and the car was nimble when weaving through Lisbellaw village.
While some unjustified skidding was experienced when pulling onto the main road, this could be put down to operator error.
Much of my driving career has been spent in sluggish diesels, so perhaps I was perhaps too pedal-happy in this ultra-responsive electric.
Returning to the office, the car handled the traffic of Enniskillen well, and its conservative width made it suitable for the often tight lanes of the town.
Overall, the IONIQ 6 made for an enjoyable drive, with good handling, phenomenal appearance and a classy interior.
The car will suit families or young professionals alike.
