The Impartial Reporter and its journalists have earned spots on the shortlist for the CIPR Northern Ireland Media Awards 2024 across multiple categories.
Victoria Johnston and former colleague Jessica Campbell find themselves nominated for Weekly Journalist of the Year, while John McVitty is in contention for Photographer of the Year.
The newspaper as a whole has been recognised with a nomination for Weekly Newspaper of the Year. This news follows closely on the heels of The Impartial Reporter being shortlisted for UK Weekly Newspaper of the Year just a week prior.
The upcoming award winners will be revealed at ceremonies in both Belfast and London next month.
In response to the announcement, Editor Rodney Edwards, who is also on the shortlist for Northern Ireland Journalist of the Year for his work at the Sunday Independent, expressed his delight.
"This is fantastic news for our team. I am constantly impressed by the dedication of everyone here to producing a brilliant newspaper every week. Their consistent delivery of top-notch journalism deserves much recognition. While awards are not everything, being shortlisted for two major ceremonies in Belfast and London speaks volumes about the talent and commitment of our entire newspaper.
"I extend my appreciation once again to everyone in editorial, advertising, the front office, distribution, marketing, and production for contributing to our success.”
