PLANNING for a controversial extension to a dog breeding facility has been withdrawn.
The proposal from The UK Dog Breeding Academy Ltd sought approval for additional kennels and exercise runs near Clabby.
It was thought that this extension would allow over 1,000 dogs to be housed at the facility.
Planning has now been withdrawn from the applicant, according to the Council.
A spokesperson from Fermanagh and Omagh District Council said: "The Council can confirm that planning application LA10/2022/0707/F has been withdrawn by the applicant, and is therefore no longer under consideration."
More than 1,900 objections were lodged since the application was made in 2022, with local animal sanctuary, Bright Eyes, going on record about their opposition.
The organisation regards the facility in Fivemiletown as a "puppy farm", and an earlier statement issued to the Impartial Reporter said: "We at Bright Eyes Animal Sanctuary do not approve of puppy farming in general.
"We believe that puppies and dogs need socialisation to benefit their behaviour and social development."
