One of the local prizewinning poultry breeders, Clogher Valley Eggs and Poultry, recently held an auction of stock at Beattie’s Pedigree Centre, Omagh.
Andrew Kerr, of the flock, described it as an "overwhelming success", with a total clearance of the 250 lots on offer, with customers from across Ireland and Great Britain travelling to the event to purchase bloodlines from exhibition poultry strains.
The top sellers were the Orpingtons, which commanded significant interest with a Buff Orpington female selling for 300 guineas, a pair of Black Orpingtons selling for 240 guineas, and a pair of Blue Orpingtons making the top sale on the day, at 500 guineas.
A trio of Blue Silkies also sold for £370.
