A man in his twenties has died following a crash near Cavan Town. 

Gardaí attended the scene of the fatal road traffic collision, which occurred shortly before 3am this morning (March 11).

The collision, between a truck and a car, occurred on the N3 at Drumcrauve in Co Cavan.

A male passenger, aged in his 20s, was fatally injured. The driver of the vehicle, a woman aged in her 20s, was taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

No other injuries have been reported.

The road remains closed at this time and traffic diversions are in place. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are examining the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
