Gardaí are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of two bodies in Monaghan Town over the course of last week.
The first body, that of a woman in her 20s, was found in the Ulster canal in Monaghan Town at approximately 8.30 am on Sunday, March 17th. She is originally from Fermanagh.
The second body, also that of a man in his 20s, was discovered along a laneway on the outskirts of the town just before 8am on Wednesday, March 13.
In a statement provided to radio station Northern Sound, Gardaí have confirmed that post-mortem examinations have been conducted on both bodies.
Initial findings from these examinations have been communicated to the investigating Gardaí.
The investigation into these tragic incidents is ongoing.
