A young woman in her 20s, named locally as Kelly Lynch, whose body was discovered in the Ulster Canal in Monaghan, has been fondly remembered by her family as "a bright light in all of our lives."
Miss Lynch, aged 23, who was from Lisnaskea, was found in the canal in Monaghan town on the morning of St. Patrick’s Day.
Gardai are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and initial findings have been forwarded to investigating officers. Gardai state that the focus of the inquiry will now shift towards compiling a file for the Coroner.
A fundraising campaign has been initiated to support Kelly's family during this challenging period.
Describing Kelly as someone whose "laughter, compassionate heart, and love touched everyone in her life," the family has appealed for solidarity and assistance.
The fundraising page expresses the profound loss felt by Kelly's family, emphasising her vibrant spirit and the emptiness her sudden passing has left behind.
A funeral notice for Kelly adds that she will be dearly missed by her grieving family. The funeral mass is scheduled to be held in Lisnaskea on the morning of Friday, March 22.
