The Department of Health has pulled promotional material that was used to promote employment opportunities in Northern Ireland that failed to include South West Acute Hospital (SWAH).
A picture shared on social media by The Western Health and Social Care Trust showed a number of healthcare professionals at a careers event in Scotland at the University of Stirling. The poster included hospitals from across Northern Ireland but did not feature SWAH.
The omission of SWAH was noted by the local campaign group Save Our Acute Services (SOAS) who stated on social media: "We are aware that management in this Trust [Western Health and Social Care Trust[ and in Department of Health have "moved" so many services and "removed" so many services from our hospital.
The spokesperson added: "It is bad enough that you have taken services away from us, but the fact that you seem now to have removed the hospital from your network is disgraceful."
The Department of Health was approached for comment on this matter and confirmed that the poster has been withdrawn from use. They claim the poster was for "illustration purposes only".
A DOH spokesperson said: "The staff present were showcasing Band 5 roles across the region, including opportunities at SWAH.
"The image shown on the poster is for illustration purposes only and does not include all hospitals or recruitment locations in Northern Ireland. To avoid any further confusion, guidance has been issued to withdraw the poster from use."
