THE family of a 25-year-old who was murdered during the Troubles will be visiting the local area to the 50th Anniversary of his death.
Dvr Norman McKenzie, was killed outside Lisnaskea on April 11, 1974 by the Provisional IRA.
On Thursday, April 11, Dvr. McKenzie's family will visit where he was murderered, lay flowers, and attend a service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving at Fawney Orange Hall.
Trudy McKenzie-Robinson said the killing of her brother was "deeply traumatic" for the family.
"Looking back upon childhood, Norman was a good older brother," she said. "He was kind to me, he really enjoyed his time in the Boys Brigade as a drummer boy and he also worked on the land.
"We were born and raised in Lincoln and we didn't have much in materialism, but as a family we did have each other.
"Norman was a big strapping lad and he was intent on joining the Army and of seeing something of the world. He left home when aged just 17 years. I would've been 11 at the time so unfortunately over the next nine years that we had him with us, we didn't see so much of each other.
"Norman's service took him to Germany for a number of tours, and he really liked it over there. So much so that in February 1975, 10 months after he was murdered, his intention was to leave the Army having served nine years at that point."
"(Norman's murder) was deeply traumatic for the family. However, our mummy actually had to bury three sons, something no mother should ever have to experience."
Mrs. McKenzie-Robinson added: "It is so important that I honour my brother's memory, I have visited Fermanagh previously some years ago.
"I did make that journey with a degree of trepidation, those feelings are still there but are not as pronounced this time around because I know there are people in Fermanagh who care."
Meanwhile, SEFF's Director of Services, Kenny Donaldson, said: "It is our honour to support the McKenzie family and to host them over the days of the 50th Anniversary since he was cruelly murdered.
"A service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving will take place in Fawney Orange Hall at 6pm on Thursday, April 11 when a plaque and photo frame will be dedicated."
