LACK Primary School will not close this year after the Department of Education failed to reach a decision on its future.
The decision provides relief for pupils, parents and staff at the local primary school amid ongoing closure woes.
Ulster Unionist MLA., Tom Elliott, said: “It will come as a relief that Lack Primary school, which is the pride of the Lack community is to remain open for now.
"I will continue to push EA and the Education Department to allow the school to remain open in the longer term.”
Lack Primary School is facing closure following a proposal to discontinue both schools as part of area planning by the Education Authority (EA).
The school falls below the minimum threshold of 105 pupils for a rural primary school, with 22 pupils.
