The funeral of a six-year-old girl who died last week following a battle with illness has taken place. The funeral of Sadie Hussey, from Boho, took place on Friday at St. Patrick's Church, Derrygonnelly, where large crowds mourned the much-loved young girl.
Sadie passed away peacefully at home in the tender loving care of her family on Monday. A large crowd gathered at the church to pay respects to Sadie as well as a large number of her teachers, fellow students, and their families who formed a guard of honour at Killyhommon Primary School, Boho.

A tribute to Sadie was posted on the school's website, a spokesperson said: "we are simply heartbroken". The spokesperson said: "Sadie was a beautiful, warm-hearted, helpful kind little girl who became part of our lives from P1 in September 2022 and she was with us right up until our annual cake sale just before the Easter holidays this year. Her face lit up the classr5oom when she smiled. Her love for her friends and endless hugs for us all will live with us in our hearts.
"Sadie couldn’t attend school from October till after the New Year, but we had special moments together in between. Most notably when she came to visit for her surprise birthday party in November and then in December to enjoy the Christmas plays. In November, Fr. Cathal led a school Mass where we held Sadie in our prayers and she was in our thoughts every day.
"Sadie returned to school again in February and March, and it was such a beautiful, special time for us all with her. We just loved her. She was so loving and such a pleasure to have with us. Everyone of us who shared in her days, from her bus journey to and from Killyhommon, through all our staff, and our pupils will have nothing but lovely memories of Sadie. We will remember her always for her bravery, her strength, her determination, her smile, and kind gentle ways. Such a unique, brave little angel."
Sadie Hussey was the darling daughter of Sean and Charlene (nee McGrath), a loving sister of Rose and Molly, and a dearly loved grandchild of Pat and Bridget McGrath and Michael and Jean Hussey. She was also a loved and cherished niece to Sinead Mangan (John), Roisin McKeegan (Paul), Kevin (Nichola), Ryan (Charlene) and her late auntie Sharon.
An excerpt from Funeral Times said that Sadie will be "loved forever by her parents Charlene and Sean, her sisters Rose and Molly, her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and neighbours."
Funeral arrangements were carried out by John McKeegan Funeral Undertaker.
