Donegal Drama Circle are set to bring Blackbird to the Ardhowen Theatre on next weekend on (Saturday May 18).
Blackbird by David Harrower is a play which recounts the story between Una(played by Laura McNulty) and Ray (played by Christian Carbin, who also serves as director) with Faye Gallagher playing the young girl part. Una has tracked Ray down to his current place of work fifteen years after they had a relationship that was taboo when she was 12 and he was 28 years her senior.
A spokesperson for Donegal Drama Circle said: "It is a hard-hitting drama full of tension and won the Tony award for best new play in 2007. It is a topical play covering a subject that has been to the fore in the media over that past 20 years. If you only see one play this year you should see this one."
Laura McNulty is a graduate of NUIG in theatre studies and recently thrilled audiences in Donegal Town with her performance as Maureen Folan in The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
Christian Carbin has been performing/directing for the past 30 years across the North West of Ireland in an array of productions. He is a familiar figure to Enniskillen audiences through his roles with Enniskillen Amateur Dramatic Society and Enniskillen Theatre Company.
Faye Gallagher is a vibrant young actress who you will see a lot more of in the future.
Please note that this play is not suitable for under 16s and sexual abuse of a minor is discussed.
