The now international Darkness Into Light event was well supported locally when people of all ages from across Lisnaskea came together in the pre-dawn hours last Saturday, May 11.
The Oak Healthy Living Centre Darkness Into Light fundraiser, which started at 4.15am from Castle Park, Lisnaskea, was described as a symbol of love, as people gathered to walk from the night’s darkness into the light of a new dawn and day, symbolising hope and promise.
As with all such events around the island and the world, the walk was also a way to remember all those who have been lost to suicide, and to support their family members, as well as helping to show that there is always support available for anyone who may be going through a difficult time.
With many people sporting bright yellow t-shirts that are synonymous with Darkness Into Light, the event was a positive and upbeat one, with people in Lisnaskea not the only people marching forth into a new day, as the St. Michael's College community also came together to participate in the event in conjunction with Darkness Into Light Lisnaskea.
Students, staff and their families were delighted to help carry the event’s message forward, and to add to the feeling of positivity and hope.
