A FERMANAGH hotel has been honoured with the prestigious Green Tourism Silver Award, in recognition of the business’ dedication to Green initiatives.

In addition, the accolade scooped by Belmore Court & Motel marks it as the only major accommodation in Fermanagh to earn such a certification, setting a high standard in the local hospitality industry for eco-friendly practices.

Belmore Court & Motel scooped the award thanks to its introduction of various innovative projects to enhance biodiversity and promote environmental awareness.

This included the addition of a ‘bug hotel’, and bird tables crafted by the Fermanagh Men's Shed group, supporting local craftsmanship and wildlife.

In partnership with the British Heart Foundation, the motel has also placed QR codes for CPR training on in-room mirrors, emphasising the importance of emergency preparedness.

The business’ commitment to the community and the environment sees Belmore Court & Motel support numerous local charities, sportspeople, and teams, with the establishment also dedicated to the well-being of its employees, providing excellent working conditions, including medical benefits.

The business also source breakfast ingredients from local producers whenever possible to support the local economy and reduce its carbon footprint.

Belmore Court & Motel has also made significant investments in electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, offering public and guest access to five EV chargers, including the fastest charger in the west of the province – all part of a broader commitment to reducing travel's carbon footprint and encouraging eco-friendly transportation options.

The motel sustainability efforts also extend to water and energy conservation, with numerous schemes in place to minimise environmental impact.

Looking forward, the motel has outlined an ambitious plan to become carbon-neutral by 2030.
