Well done to Hilda Watson (centre) who is seen here making a £2,000 cheque presentation as part of Matty’s Legacy 2024.

Hilda and her late husband, John, set up Matty’s Legacy in honour of their only son, Matthew, who died in 2011, and she regularly fundraises for a wide range of good causes in the name of Matty’s Legacy.

Here, Hilda is pictured presenting £2,000 to Una Bourke (right), for Chest, Heart and Stroke Association, Northern Ireland, as Caroline Neville looks on.

Of the fundraising efforts, Hilda says: “This year, 2024 was another fantastic result, with a total of £1,630 being raised, and to top that, a very good friend of mine – who wishes to remain anonymous – added a further £370 to round up the final total. Thank you.

“This year, it is very fitting to be supporting this charity, as my close family have severely impacted by stroke-related illnesses, so I know how important their work is.

“Thank you to everyone who helped out [through the selling of knitted creme egg chicks and other items], whether it was by knitting, displaying the wee chicks and bunnies for sale and of course, to everyone who bought one or two or more.

“Last but not least, a special word of thanks to Erne Insurance Services, who donated the creme eggs.

“It is a privilege that I can help in a very small way the local community, and I am so grateful that I can remember Matthew in such a positive manner.”
