Enniskillen ComicFest is returning for a full weekend of events, building on the success of previous years that has drawn together leading figures in the highly-popular comics field.
ComicFest will run over an entire weekend of Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9, and will once again provide a weekend that’s packed with comic creators, both professional and self-published, to sign and sketch, with merchandise and comics on sale, and there will be lots to see and do for everyone with even a passing interest in comics.
This year, superstar artist, Alan Davis – who has illustrated very successful runs of Batman, the X-Men, the Avengers, the JLA, Spiderman, Excalibur, Captain Britain and many popular characters from both Marvel and DC – will make his first visit to Enniskillen.
Also attending this year is Mick McMahon, famous for drawing some of the biggest Judge Dredd and Slaine stories for 2000 AD; Cam Kennedy, who has illustrated stories for Battle Action including Fighting Mann and Clash of the Guards, as well as Rogue Trooper; and Geoff Senior, the main artist on the Transformers comic.
Other guests this year include Dave Windett, who has drawn Korky the Cat for The Dandy, and popular licensed characters such as Inspector Gadget, and Sonic the Hedgehog; and Will Simpson, comic artist and storyboard artist for the smash hit Game of Thrones television show, who makes a return to Enniskillen.
These are just some of the 20 guests from across Ireland and the UK who will be appearing at ComicFest. There will also be a special exhibition of original art by Steve Dillon.
Welcoming the return of the highly-popular event that has already firmly established Enniskillen on the international comics festival circuit, the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Thomas O' Reilly (SF), said: “I am delighted that Enniskillen ComicFest is returning this year for two days, and that the Council is able to provide sponsorship towards it.
“This has been a popular event in previous years and I am confident that this will continue to be the case for 2024. I would encourage anyone with an interest in comic books to go along."
Full details of the festival’s programme of events will be posted on the Enniskillen ComicFest Facebook page.
Enniskillen ComicFest thanks the Council, Experience Enniskillen, and Blake's of the Hollow for their invaluable support.
