Newtownbutler’s hosting of Fermanagh Fleadh got off to a rousing start last weekend with an Appreciation Night in memory of the late Michael ‘Mickey’ McPhillips held at the community centre, with Mass at St. Mary’s preceding it.
Mickey’s lasting legacy was celebrated at the night, with some wonderful live music just part of the diverse evening of celebration and community, as the Fleadh hit the ground running with a busy programme of events across the week.
With the Fleadh running until this Sunday, June 9, there are still several nights of activities ahead.
Tonight (Thursday) has an 8pm singing session in The Rambling House; Friday has a Traditional concert at 7.30pm in the parish hall; Saturday’s events include a Youth Session from 2-4pm and a 9pm For Ceili in the parish hall, while Sunday’s events, to name but a few, round off a busy Fleadh week with a street parade at 3pm, and music on the ‘gig-rig’ by Pigs Can Fly.
