An avid cyclist is set to embark on a ride from Cork to Donegal to raise money for charity.
Marius, along with his wife Isabelle, from Belcoo plan to begin the long journey on June 22.
The picturesque start, Mizen Head in Cork, to the breath-taking finish, Malin Head in North Donegal, will be their most ambitious venture together yet.
Just like their cycling journey across Africa 40 years ago, Isabelle will join Marius again, acting as a support vehicle in a campervan for the solo cyclist.
Marius, who has conquered mountain passes in the Alps and Pyrenees in the last three years, is driven by his sense of adventure and his passion for cycling.
In retirement, Marius’s free time is now consumed by planning their next cycling expedition.
This expedition, however, has a collective goal beyond personal satisfaction.
The journey aims to support the charity Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
MSF, renowned as the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation, impartially offers emergency aid to individuals impacted by armed conflicts, epidemics, and natural or man-made disasters.
Delivering medical care to areas most in need, MSF operates in more than 70 countries, providing services inaccessible or ignored by others.
Their assistance is given impartially, bypassing any bias of race, religion, gender, or political beliefs.
