A BEAMING Eimer Maguire said she was "so shocked and surprised" to be named Champion Teacher of the Year.
The beloved teacher collected her award amidst raucous applause, having been recognised for her compassionate approach and dedication to student success.
During a parent-teacher meeting last October, Eimer recognised signs of a stroke in a parent, and swiftly intervened by calling medical assistance.
Her prompt response and support during the journey to hospital were instrumental in the woman's recovery.
"I am so shocked, so surprised, so truly honoured," said Eimer, proudly holding her award, which was sponsored by The Print Factory, Enniskillen.
"This is such a remarkable award and I am only delighted to have been nominated and awarded it!”
When asked if she wished to thank anyone, the kind-hearted educator said: "The list is endless", but added: “A huge thanks to The Impartial Reporter, for one, as well as to all the people who were involved in nominating me – in particular, Caroline McCaffrey.
“And a huge thanks to my school, St. Mary's, Maguiresbridge; to all staff, the Board of Governors, to our principal, and to my partner, thank you for all your considered support.”
Eimer was also quick to congratulate the other two shortlisted names in her category, Adele Kerr, of Enniskillen Integrated Primary School, and Gary McDevitt, of Enniskillen Royal Grammar School, saying: "A huge well-done to Gary and Adele for such an honourable achievement."
Sponsor John Cosgrove, of The Print Factory, Enniskillen, said: "It was an honour to be part of it. It was great to see so many inspirational people there.
"It was an honour to sponsor this award. We have a long-standing relationship with The Impartial Reporter, and such an award is good for everyone. There was a feel-good factor on the night."
