Children are waiting almost half-a-year to be assessed for special educational needs.
This is according to Minister of Education, Paul Givan, who revealed that in 2023/24, children waited 25.3 weeks on the waiting list for special educational needs in Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
The figures came as part of a response to Deborah Erskine MLA, who requested the information.
Minister Givan said that as of June 11, this year, 173 children are "undergoing a statutory assessment of their educational needs in Fermanagh and South Tyrone."
In the 2022/23 financial year, children were on the waiting list for 24.5 weeks.
This rose to 25.3 weeks in the 2023/24 financial year.
This year to date (April to May) children have spent 24.5 weeks on the waiting list.
