This year’s Clogher Valley Show – taking place on Wednesday, July 31 – will have 15 championships and 18 Irish Shows Association championships with exhibitors from across Ireland presenting their livestock in the judging rings.
The 18 championships will include some in the horse section; All Ireland Working Hunter Horse Championship; National Pony Show Championship; and the HSE Mixed Abilities Riding Classes for vulnerable adults and children.
In the cattle section, there is the AA Society/ABP Aberdeen Angus Cattle Summer Championship, the Gortavoy Feeds Calf Championship, NISA/Lakeland Dairies Young Handler Final, Northwick House NI Blonde Calf Championship, Bank of Ireland/NI Charolais Cattle National Show, Fane Valley Dairy Cow Championship, United Feeds Coloured Dairy Champion and Reserve, Parkland Veterinary Maiden Dairy Heifer Championship, Clogher Valley Credit Union Young Beef Heifer Championship, and Beef Pairs Championship.
In the sheep section, there is the ISA/Danske Bank All Ireland Continental Sheep Final, Fane Valley NI Sheep Young Handlers Final and Supreme Sheep Championship, as well as the Jimmy Johnston’s Bar British and Irish Native Sheep Championships.
There is also the Donnelly Group Champion of Champions.
The Irish Shows Association has 19 qualifiers at Clogher Valley Show in the horse section, sheep and dog sections, as well as crafts and home industries sections.
The lead sponsors this year are Mid Ulster Council, Gortavoy Feeds, Fane Valley, Donnelly Group, Tirlan, T. J. Booth, Bank of Ireland, Aberdeen Angus Cattle Society and ABP.
The vintage section this year is for vehicles dated pre-1984 and is in its 19th year, with entries increasing each year.
The Food Hall, always a major attraction, is sponsored by Tirlan and the guest speaker at the launch this year is Jim Harrison, National Secretary of the Irish Shows Association.
It will be attended by visiting judges, chief stewards and invited guests.
