With an estimated 65 years of parading under his belt, Herbie Morrison (86), was taking a rest from the full parade and was instead chauffeured to the field as part of the parade by his family.
His granddaughter, Mollie, explained: “We drove Granda!”
Mr. Morrison has never missed a Twelfth as a member of LOL329. He said: “I like the bands, I like to be out and about and talking to people.”
He added: “I am being driven here, I walked a bit this morning.”
He remembers his first Twelfth in Maguiresbridge, but joked that he has had a few Twelfths in Irvinestown that he would rather forget.
With a laugh, he said: “I was drowned at it!"
Mr. Morrison spent many years parading with Fawney Pipe Band, and has had grandchildren follow in his footsteps.
He said: “I piped for 60 years in Fawney Pipe Band. These ones are Maguirebridge, and Fawney is off the road, unless they can revive it!”
