The traditional Fair Day returned once again to the Lady of the Lake Festival, with yesterday (Wednesday, July 17) at Necarne Castle from midday seeing some great sights and sounds on the day for the whole community to enjoy.
There was carriage driving, stalls and crafts, poitin making, a pedicure for horses and donkeys, and a parade of vintage tractors – just some of the fair day’s attractions for people of all ages.
And, marking a special new event for 2024, the Lady of the Lake Festival sought to find ‘Ireland’s Sexiest Man’ (see overleaf).
There was some stiff competition between the dozen or so brave competitors who all modelled and strutted their stuff for the judges.
Winner Mark Joseph McCaffrey was able to walk away with the prestigious title.
Other traditional fair activities also took place, such as auctioneering, a hiring fair, ruck building and a whole host of activities as Castle Irvine came to life with all the sights and the sounds of the fair day.
