The annual 'Run for Oisín' is returning next month to Belcoo.

Scheduled to take place on August 11, one of the district’s most popular fun runs features chip-timed and professionally measured 5k and 10k distances.

The event will start at 1pm.

Participants can either register on the day at Lakeland Community Care from 10am or pre-register online at www.njuko.net/omg24.

A prize-giving ceremony with refreshments will follow the race at the Community Centre.

The event is organised by the Oisín McGrath Foundation, which was formed in memory of 13-year-old Oisín McGrath from Belcoo, who lost his life in February 2015.

The foundation is managed by the Fermanagh Trust and provides financial aid to young, sports-focused individuals experiencing financial constraints.

Oisín’s mother, Sharon McGrath, said: "The family and indeed all involved in the Foundation are forever grateful for the support we have received and could never have anticipated the response in previous years.

"It is a huge community event with over 1000 participants and we look forward to welcoming everyone back again whether you are a recreational walker or seasoned athlete.

"The Foundation brings opportunity to others alongside celebrating Oisín’s life and his love and commitment to sport.

"We are pleased to be able to make grant awards and it is our hope that we can support even more young people and groups, assisting them in their sports development in memory of Oisín".
