Staff at The Brook Veterinary Clinic in Enniskillen were initially informed of potential redundancies earlier this month, only to be told days later that their jobs were secure.
There are now concerns over how the company that owns the practice handled the proposed changes to the workforce.
IVC Evidensia, with a registered address in Bristol and practices in over 20 countries, owns The Brook and recently sent a letter to all staff stating that due to changes in demand and the global economy, there would be a “reduction in the number of roles required in certain practices.”
In the correspondence, which has been seen by this newspaper, the company said this will “potentially involve around three per cent of our colleagues across the UK.”
The letter states that it is not a decision taken lightly and that the company was in a “solid financial and operational position.”
One staff member at The Brook fears it is "not the end of the matter for staff".
“A week of ‘someone has got to volunteer redundancy’ to actually this practice is fine.
“I can’t imagine it being the end of it.”
They added, “Most of us are burnt out as we are understaffed and most are struggling financially, and it is affecting mental health.”
IVC was contacted for a comment on the initial letter and the process they undertook to make cuts to their workforce; however, they did not wish to comment.
