SINGER Paddy Treacy's latest music video has captured the spirit of the recent Lady of the Lake Festival, all while paying tribute to a local legend!

'The Legend Joe Mahon' was filmed by Paddy and his rag-tag gang of musicians, and features trucks, jiving galore, and an appearance from one of Irvinestown's best-loved publicans.

For Paddy, from Lisnaskea, the recent festival was the ideal setting for the video, which has been viewed more than 104,000 times on Facebook.

"I recorded the song in October last year, and I always knew wanted to do a video for it at the next Lady of the Lake," said Paddy,

"I figured this would be a good time because that's when everything is happening.

"I got the group of boys together, and they took no convincing whatsoever. It was just sheer craic from start to finish!"

The video opens with Paddy and his mates attempting to thumb a lift to the 'Lady of the Lake' festival.

Their transport soon arrives, in the form of a pickup truck, and they are taken to Irvinestown to meet none other than Joe Mahon himself.

"It goes without saying that Joe is a local legend, and he didn't need much convincing to be in the  video," Paddy reflected.

"It was actually my brother-in-law who introduced me to the song, which was written 10 years ago by Gavin McAloon.

"It stuck in my head and soon became a firm favourite. Before long, Joe came to me and said, 'You should record that'!

"At first I laughed, but I soon came around to the idea. It's the best decision I have made yet!"

Paddy, who works for McCullagh Machinery by day and sings by night, said he has been blown away by the response to the video.

"The video has really blown that song up," he said. "Some think that the song is only after coming out, even though it has been out for almost a year.

"As I always say, the video makes a song, and for it to be sitting at more than 104,000 views is truly amazing.

"I am humbled by all the support I have received for it so far."

In coming months, Paddy hopes to raise his profile even more at both local venues and beyond.

He recently "went out on his own" as an artist, following a stint with Pettigo singer, Paul Kelly.

"I have been playing music since I was nine years old, so I suppose it's always been in me," Paddy added.

"I played with Paul Kelly, which was a great experience. I recently went out on my own.

"At the moment I am hoping for bigger gigs, and to maybe even get a band gathered up.

"Of course, these things take time, and nothing happens overnight. I will see where this journey leads me!"
