POLICE have arrested a drunken driver who "veered into the path of an oncoming vehicle" near Main Street, Dromore.
Yesterday evening (Sunday), neighbourhood police patrolling Main Street, Dromore, said that they intercepted a vehicle "which was travelling on the wrong side of the road towards a packed Main Street."
"The vehicle had veered into the path of an oncoming vehicle, narrowly avoiding a head on collision," a PSNI spokesperson said.
"Upon speaking with the driver, it quickly became apparent to the officers that the driver was in no fit state to be driving."
The driver failed a roadside breath test, and was arrested for a number of offences including Driving with excess alcohol, Careless driving and Using a handheld mobile device whilst driving.
The driver was also arrested on suspicion of other driving offences.
The spokesperson continued: "If you thought that was enough, further enquiries revealed the driver had No licence and No insurance.
"After spending the night in custody, a day in court awaits for the individual involved.
"Folks, the message could not be clearer. Never, ever, drink and drive! We are 100 per cent committed to making our roads safer!"
