WONDERFUL friendships have already blossomed thanks to a new social group for ladies in Fermanagh.
Island Town Ladies was set up just last month, but it has already proved to be a major hit.
Boasting over 400 members, ladies of all ages and backgrounds have already enjoyed each other's company at a range of events, including a coffee morning, a bowling and pizza evening, and even a boat trip!
The group was founded on July 7 by Diane McGovern and Nuala O'Toole, who recognised the need for a fun, informal social group in Fermanagh.
"The group is simply about ladies getting together, checking in with each other," Diane said.
"It came about when Nuala and I recognised there was no group for ladies of every age and stage in life to socialise together, be it as simple as going for a cuppa, going on a night out, or a simple dander down the town.
"Members should know that whether you're having a bad day or a really good day, someone in the group has probably been there.
"Members should know that whatever they're facing in life, they are never alone. This is what the group is all about."
This simple premise, which advocates social connection, togetherness, and positive mental health, has been well-received locally. Over 100 ladies have attended various meet-ups and social events so far, with further plans in the pipeline.
"We have a wonderful committee of ladies who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to organise our upcoming events," Diane continued.
"Events include fortnightly coffee and catch-ups, a group picnic, a wellness event, shopping trips, and much more!
"We believe that healthy, happy people build vibrant communities where everyone feels valued, included, and respected.
"In areas like Fermanagh, it can be difficult to make meaningful and long-lasting connections with others as we are spread out across our wonderful landscape.
"Although we are more connected digitally, people are feeling less connected, so Island Town Ladies offers a safe space for ladies to reconnect with each other."
Diane added that the "blossoming friendships" are easily a highlight of Island Town Ladies so far.
"It’s wonderful to see so many ladies gather in such a welcoming and supportive way, and we'll continue encouraging it," she concluded.
