AN ERNE West Councillor has celebrated the birth of his first child.
Dara, son of SDLP Councillor Adam Gannon and his wife, Lucy, was born on Monday of this week weighing 8lb 7oz.
"I am buzzing, I am chuffed!" Councillor Gannon beamed. "The wee man is class, and Lucy is doing well, too. That's all you can ask for, isn't it?
"We are due to get home today (Wednesday), I am look forward to spending a bit of time with him!"
Little Dara was delivered at South West Acute Hospital, Enniskillen. Councillor Gannon described the staff at the local hospital as "amazing".
"All the staff were amazing, from the midwifes, to the nurses, assistants, and students," he said. "We can't speak highly enough of them for what they have done for us over the last few days."
The Erne West Councillor added: "Life will be much busier now what with fatherhood, but I will continue to represent the people of Erne West, and fulfil my duties as a Councillor, to the absolute best of my ability."
Councillor Gannon was elected to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council in 2019, and was re-elected during the local government elections last year.
