A man has died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in County Fermanagh on Sunday [August 4] morning.

The collision took place on the Stragowna Road in Kinawley shortly after 10am.

This morning, the PSNI confirmed the death of a man in his 50s.

It is understood that the incident took place during the annual Summit Show and Run.

A statement shared by organisers said: "The Summit Show and Run 2024 Committee and Organisers wish to extend our sincere and deepest sympathies to the families of those affected by the incident which occurred yesterday morning shortly after the start of the run.

"We also wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the event over the weekend including those who have been affected by the tragedy, and we acknowledge your continuing support by choosing to return to the start as a mark of respect.

"The motorsport and motor enthusiast community is a close one and we appreciate your thoughtfulness."

Inspector Cherith Adair from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “At approximately 10.10am we received a report of a single-vehicle collision on the Stragowna Road in Kinawley.

“Officers attended the scene along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, however, the driver sadly passed away at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the family at this time and an investigation is now under way to establish the circumstances.

“The Collision Investigation Unit is appealing to anyone who may have any information which may assist with our investigation, or who may have been travelling in the area at the time and captured any dash-cam or other footage, to get in touch on 101, quoting reference number 545 of 05/08/24.”
