FIVE-year-old Micheál Fee is all set to make the move to primary school come September.

"It's an exciting time, but also a daunting one," said mum, Zoe, from Tempo, ahead of the new school year.

"He has mixed emotions about going to primary school, but all he is saying is that can't wait to learn how to write!

"This is a completely new start compared to playschool. It's all different for both parents and child!"

Young Micheál will attend St. Mary's Primary School in Tempo, and although he is "farming mad", he is equally as excited about learning.

"He is tractor-mad, so we could have a future farmer," Zoe continued.

"Of course, Micheál is also looking forward to arts and crafts and other subjects. He started to learn how to write at pre-school so he will love those lessons.

"But perhaps the thing he is most looking forward to is seeing all his friends.

"He went to Tempo Community Playschool, and most of his class will be going to St. Mary's. He hasn't seen them since June, so it will be lovely for him!"

Zoe admitted that sending her son to an entirely new school is a different experience than what she has been used to.

"There are a lot of things to sort, without a doubt," she said. "I got the uniform sorted yesterday [Wednesday], and of course there are other things like the schoolbag, pencil case and the haircut.

“It’s a long to-do list, but you don’t be long in getting through it. Every parent is in the same boat.”
