A new short film exploring the final days of the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) has premiered on YouTube.
'Sgt Collins RIC: The Last Day' follows the last day of the RIC and in it, Sgt. Collins has gone to Dublin and County Inspector O'Callaghan has come to Fivemiletown and Cooneen RIC Barracks for the last day of the RIC, to stand down the constables for the final time.
The film is written and produced by David McCann and is one of a series of films he has been involved in charting the history of the RIC.
Mr. McCann is an author and has written books on the RIC as well as other books focused on historical fiction.
Readers may be familiar with his two films, 'Sgt Collins RIC', and 'The Green Fella', which are available to watch via YouTube.
The two films follow the same era and the same characters that come to life in Mr. McCann's books.
The film 'Sgt Collins' won The Spotlight Award: Short, and was commended for having a great location, excellent score, being well acted, good costume design and for being “a big undertaking for a short film with some really nice set pieces”.
Director, and Director of Photography, is Wayne O’Brien, and the film was edited by Emma Lown.
The film is available to watch on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctP8-wOQbsQ.
The film currently has more than 12,000 views.
