A WALKER has said there is "no excuse" for excess litter near Castle Archdale.
The local resident, who was out walking yesterday (Wednesday), shared the images of overflowing bins and litter strewn at Tom's Island Jetty.
"There is no excuse for people dumping," he said. "If we are going to provide bins, they have to be closed over and cleared every day. The evidence suggests animals have been at it."
He continued: "The bins are a great idea but they reality of them is different. They're right beside picnic barbecue tables and also the jetty.
"If the bin was larger, with a top flap which doesn't open as far as vertical, then it would generally be closed so animals can't access it. But it also needs to be serviced regularly."
The walker also hit out at a lack of bins at Castle Archdale Forest Walk.
"Before now, I have offered to take several bags of litter from boat holidaymakers in the Castle Archdale Marina area, back home," he said.
"They were looking for bins there. From memory, there are none there," he claimed.
