A NUMBER of cattle were killed after colliding with a lorry near Brookeborough.

Police received a report of a collision on the Old Belfast Road, shortly before 5.20am on Monday, August 12.

It was reported a lorry collided with cattle that had broken out of a nearby field in the area, and were running loose.

A number of livestock died as a result of the collision, a PSNI spokeswoman has confirmed. 

The spokeswoman added that the area was cleared soon after the incident, enabling traffic to again flow freely.
