Kesh is gearing up for its much-anticipated Community Carnival, set to take place this weekend.
This year’s event promises a fantastic line-up of activities that will cater for all ages, combining creativity, competition, and community spirit.
Here's a rundown of the exciting events planned for the weekend.
Thursday, August 22
The carnival kicks off with a Food Bank Donation from 10am to 4pm at The Courthouse.
In the afternoon, kids can get creative at a clay modelling workshop hosted by Clayful Minds, from 2pm to 4pm, also at The Courthouse.
Following that, budding artists can showcase their talent in a chalk art competition at 4pm.
A 'Crazy Hairdo' competition starts at 6.15pm at the Community Hub, located behind The Mayfly Village Pub & Restaurant.
Elsewhere, a colour run/walk down Main Street promises a vibrant spectacle. Registration opens at 6pm, with the race starting at 7pm sharp.
The day wraps up with live music at The Mayfly.
Friday, August 23
Start your Friday with a refreshing 'Pilates in the Park' session from 9am to 10am at the MUGA pitch, led by Naomh from Erne Physiotherapy Clinic.
In the afternoon, kids can enjoy a character pancake-making workshop with 'Cookin’ for Kids' from 2pm to 4pm at The Courthouse.
As the day winds down, there will be beach yoga with Anne from 'Well Worth It' at 6.30pm, followed by a peaceful 'Community Reflection Walk' at 7pm.
The evening concludes with more live music at The Mayfly at 10pm.
Saturday, August 24
Saturday morning starts with another 'Pilates in the Park' session from 9am to 10am at the MUGA pitch.
For animal lovers, a pet show starts at 10am at The Courthouse, and garden enthusiasts can explore an open show garden from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Riverside Gardens.
Creative minds can participate in the Creativity/Home Industries competition from 10:30am to 3:30pm at the Community Centre on Mantlin Road, where there will also be a Food & Craft Market from 11am to 4pm.
For foodies, a BBQ and waffle stand will be open from 11:30am to 5:30 pm at The Courthouse.
At 1pm there will be a fancy dress and vehicle parade starting at The Courthouse, followed by 'the Alan Event' from 1.30pm to 3pm, where organisers are hoping to gather as many people with the name 'Alan' (and its variations) as possible.
In the late afternoon, the popular Duck Derby will take place at 4pm at Kesh Marina.
Later, coffee enthusiasts can join a barista training session from 6pm to 7pm at The Courthouse.
The evening’s festivities continue with street games on Main Street, featuring live sheep racing at 7:30pm.
The day concludes with a Country Hoedown party at The Mayfly.
Sunday, August 25
The final day of the carnival begins with a fishing competition, from 9:30am to 6pm, at Castle Archdale and Muckross Marina.
From 12pm, registration opens for the annual tractor parade and run, which will leave Main Street at 2:30pm.
Later, kids can dance the afternoon away at the Kids Disco with 'The Party Bees', from 4:30pm to 6pm at the Community Hub.
The day will also feature a Summer Hymn Sing at 7pm at The Courthouse, with the fishing competition results being announced at the same time at The Mayfly.
At 7:30 pm, registration opens for the table quiz at The Mayfly, with the quiz starting at 8pm. The grand finale of the weekend will be live music at 10pm at The Mayfly.
