As regular readers know, The Impartial Reporter is always happy to hear of some far-flung local son or daughter who is out in the world making their mark, and especially if they’re involved in a good cause – and helping to provide a home for adults with learning disabilities certainly sounds like a very good cause.
Ballinamallard locals Ben and Esther Smith (pictured with their children) moved over to Moldova in 2021 to support the ‘Casa Mea’ charity (‘My House’), which has established four small, supported living care homes for adults with learning disabilities.
With Casa Mea now building a fifth house, UFM Missionaries Ben and Esther – a Learning Disability nurse, and a former Special Needs teacher respectively – have organised a great fundraising Gospel Praise evening to help, coming up soon at The Stables Christian Centre, Enniskillen, at Derrygore Road close to Erne Integrated School.
Set at The Stables, a stone’s throw across the water from Portora Castle’s ruin, the 7.30pm event on Saturday, September 7 has plenty of artists lined up, including Paul Irwin, the McClintock Family, Margaret Johnston, Gordon Quinn, the Woods Family and Friends, all compered by Nevin Glendinning, with the evening also featuring a short presentation by Ben on the work of Casa Mea.
So, why not pop along for a night of Gospel music on Saturday week, and help to support what sounds like a good cause indeed?
