Kesh North Fermanagh Young Defenders Flute Band held their annual parade in Kesh last Friday, August 23, with the loss of band member, the late Oisin Gregg (18), to the fore of everyone’s minds.
Oisin – a beloved member of the Belleek community – was widely mourned following his death in a traffic accident in June, with tributes pouring in from all sections of the community.
In honour of his memory, the flute band decided that 100 per cent of the street collection made during the parade will be donated directly to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI).
Following the well attended parade, organisers posted their thanks on social media, writing: “On behalf of the band we would like to express a massive thanks to each and every person who made our annual parade and disco last night a massive success.
“In total, we had 30 bands on display, which included ourselves; that total makes it our biggest parade in recent years.
“We would like to thank every band who turned up and made our parade a huge success.
“We would like to thank our own band members who have worked tirelessly all week to make sure everything went smoothly on the night. We thank our marshals and all those that helped out on the BBQ stalls.”
The organisers also thanked the AANI volunteers and all those who donated to the street collection, and were delighted to reveal that £2,515 was raised, adding “a big well done to everyone”.
