FOUR little dogs have been rescued and will be rehomed after being found abandoned near Maguiresbridge.

Earlier this week, reports were made of four small dogs straying on the Curryann Road area of Maguiresbridge.

Lost Paws NI, which helps rescue stray dogs, were alerted. With help from Fermanagh and OMagh District Council's Dog Warden, three of the dogs were initially rescued.

The final dog, a six-month-old pup, was rescued yesterday evening (Thursday).

All four have now been taken to England where they will be rehomed by the Dog's Trust.

A spokeswoman for Lost Paws NI said: "We were made aware of four small dogs that had been straying on the Curryann Road area of Maguiresbridge.

"We managed to secure three of these dogs on Wednesday and they are safe, but there was one dog that remained in the area, and we worked through the next day and night to secure him.

"We are absolutely thrilled to say that we managed to trap the fourth dog in the early hours of Thursday morning.

"This wee dog was much more timid than the others, so we needed to use monitoring equipment and traps.

"It was heartbreaking to watch him through our cameras desperately search for his friends alone at approximately six months old, and left out in the wild.

"This little guy and his three friends have a space with Dogs Trust in GB, where they will be going once their stray time is complete."

The spokeswoman added: "We’d like to thank the locals who brought this to our attention, and to the Fermanagh dog wardens for their efforts."
