An Enniskillen man took part in the Great North Run at the weekend in memory of his friend.
Jonathan Pinnick, 39, ran the half-marathon on Sunday, September 8 in memory of his friend Nick Wallis, who lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and died in July 2014, aged 29.
This was Mr. Pinnick's first Great North Run and he was running to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy UK to mark the 10th anniversary of Nick’s passing.
So far, he had raised more than £900 for the charity.
Originally from Northampton, Mr. Pinnick and Nick met at primary school and remained friends into adulthood.
Mr. Pinnick said: "Nick and I were really good friends from a young age.
"He was just a genuinely lovely guy – so positive and determined to make the most of life.
"He has been an inspiration to me throughout my life."
Nick's mum, Di Wallis, said: "Jonathan’s committed friendship was a great support to Nick and his continuing contact with us as a family has been an important link.
"Knowing that Nick is remembered and so positively means a lot to us."
