HUNDREDS of people flocked to the home of Lord and Lady Hamilton in Tamlaght for an open garden afternoon in aid of a local charity.

The event on Sunday raised over £7,000, which will help Home-Start Lakeland support families across the county.

The charity has expressed appreciation to Lord and Lady Hamilton for opening up their garden, to all those who attended the open garden, and to Encirc, which supported the event.

In addition to perusing the magnificent gardens, visitors were able to enjoy cream teas and live music in a beautiful setting at the event on Sunday.

Kids had a chance to take part in a treasure hunt around the garden, face painting, garden games and pond dipping, while there were also delicious cakes and beautiful plants for sale, various other stalls and a wreath-making demonstration.

Behind the scenes was a tremendous team of helpers including those who baked scones for the refreshments, cakes for the stall, donated plants, helped in the kitchen (the Soroptimists), on the stalls, with the pond dipping, stewards and Letterbreen Silver Band and Church Hill Silver Band who provided the music.
