Erne Integrated College has hosted a workshop to raise awareness about gas safety.

The workshop was organised as part of Gas Safety Week 2024 by Evolve, the gas network operator for the west of Northern Ireland.

The aim was to educate students about the Evolve gas network, its operations, and the importance of gas safety.

The workshop covered essential topics, including the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, the potential risks of carbon monoxide, and what to do in case of a gas smell.

The theme for Gas Safety Week this year is "Checking – Every Check Counts", which highlights the importance of regular gas safety checks.

Dominic Scullion, safety, health and environment manager at Evolve, said: "Safety remains a top priority for Evolve, and delivering these educational workshops underscores our commitment to raising awareness of gas safety within the communities we serve.

"By engaging students, we’re helping to ensure that the next generation understands the importance of safety checks and can carry these messages forward."

He added that Evolve is proud to collaborate with local schools and other stakeholders to promote gas safety and safeguard communities.
